International Bibliography of Theatre & Dance with Full Text

International Bibliography of Theatre & Dance with Full Text is a definitive research tool for the study of theatre and the performing arts. This database was initiated by the American Society for Theatre Research, and since 1984, the Theatre Research Data Center (TRDC) at Brooklyn College has published 14 volumes of the IBTD. These volumes comprise a fully indexed, cross-referenced and annotated databank of over 60,000 journal articles, books, book chapters and dissertation abstracts on all aspects of theatre and performance in 126 countries. International Bibliography of Theatre & Dance with Full Text contains more than 450 full-text titles, including more than 140 full-text journals, and more than 300 full-text books & monographs.

LINK+ is a cooperative project among participating public and academic libraries, which provides a single, searchable catalog for books. Using LINK+, Santa Clara City Library users may borrow books from one of the more than 30 participating LINK+ libraries when they are not available at Santa Clara City Library.

Magill’s Medical Guide

This electronic resource is the online version of Magill’s Medical Guide.  Entries in this encyclopedia describe major diseases and disorders of the human body, the basics of human anatomy and physiology, specializations in medical practice, and common surgical and non-surgical procedures.  Funding for this electronic resource has been provided by Kaiser Permanente, South Bay Service Area.

Mango Languages

Learn to speak a language via the Web.  You can learn English as a Second Language, Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, and Spanish with Mango Languages.  The latest version of Adobe Flash Player is required.  Mango Languages replaces Rosetta Stone Online, which no longer is sold to libraries.

Designed specifically for public libraries, this multidisciplinary database provides full text for nearly 1,750 general reference publications with full text information dating as far back as 1975. Covering virtually every subject area of general interest, MasterFILE Premier also contains full text for nearly 500 reference books and 164,424 primary source documents, as well as an Image Collection of 440,207 photos, maps & flags. This database is updated daily.

Military & Government Collection

Designed to offer current news pertaining to all branches of the military and government, this database offers a thorough collection of periodicals, academic journals, and other content pertinent to the increasing needs of those sites. The Military & Government Collection provides cover-to-cover full text for nearly 300 journals and periodicals and indexing and abstracts for nearly 400 titles.  

Morningstar Investment Research Center

This resource includes approximately 2,100 mutual fund reports, 1,900 stock analyst reports, and 150 exchange-traded fund (ETF) reports. The Help & Education section offers courses on investing and training in the use of the Morningstar Investment Research Center. There is a limit of two simultaneous users.  Funding for this database has been provided by the Foundation and Friends of the Santa Clara City Library.

ReferenceUSA indexes the contents of telephone white and yellow pages in the United States. The Business section is useful for locating businesses, associations, schools, and government agencies; it can be searched and sorted by name, type of business, city, business size, SIC code, etc. The Residential section searches individual names, and may be used as a "reverse directory" to locate people by address and phone number.

Searchasaurus is an exciting and easy way for young researchers to experience online searching. It is an animated interface with a dinosaur theme that encourages students to enhance and develop basic search methodologies. Students will be riveted by the colorful, animated interface, complete with erupting volcanoes and a dinosaur guide, as they gather information on a wide range of topics. Searchasaurus offers Lexile limiters (reading level), making it easy for students to read and research only appropriately challenging materials.

EBSCO has created a search interface designed specifically for secondary school students, according to their needs and search abilities. Through the Student Research Center, users can easily pre-determine which content sources (e.g., Magazines, Newspapers, Biographies, Country Reports, Film & Video) will be included with their search. They can also search their databases by topic heading, make use of an online dictionary and encyclopedia, explore the top searches of the day, and even limit their search according to appropriate Lexile reading levels.
