The Santa Clara City Library collects, preserves, and organizes historical materials to provide the community with local history research opportunities and to foster civic pride in the City’s colorful heritage. Housed in Central Park Library’s Heritage Pavilion, this collection covers Santa Clara’s development from the founding of Mission Santa Clara to the present. Materials collected and displayed include: books, maps, photographs, posters, newspaper clippings, scrapbooks, pamphlets, oral histories, audiovisual materials, copies of manuscripts, and other primary source documents. Santa Clara City Scrapbook Indexes:

Marian A. Peterson High School Scrapbook Index
The Santa Clara Central Park Library Heritage Pavilion houses four scrapbooks that were compiled by Marion A. Peterson from 1964 through 1981 documenting the history of her namesake high school from its dedication and opening through its closing. This link takes you to an index (in PDF format) to the people and topics covered in the scrapbooks.

Santa Clara Woman's Club Scrapbooks (use links below)
The Santa Clara Central Park Library Heritage Pavilion houses a few scrapbooks compiled by the Santa Clara Woman's Club. Detailed table of contents indexing for these scrapbooks is underway. As of November, 2007, indexing has been completed for the 1966-1967, 1968-1969, and 1970-1971 scrapbooks. These links take you to the indexes in PDF format.

 
Santa Clara County History:
Santa Clara County Historical & Genealogical Society
The Society is headquartered in the Santa Clara City Library. Its members assist the Library in maintaining an international genealogy collection and work on projects to preserve the history of Santa Clara County. The site includes the Early Settler File of Santa Clara County and a Santa Clara County History Books Index.

California Room Database
Read about and search for Santa Clara County pioneer names and places using the California Room Database of the San Jose Public Library. This database was created by indexing books, scrapbooks, and clipping files located in the California Room of San Jose’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Public Library. Check the library catalog for similar items.

Santa Clara County Archives
In October 2006, the County of Santa Clara established a public archive for its historical records.

Part of the California GenWeb project, provides information and links to free websites that are helpful to genealogists and local historians doing Santa Clara County family and local history research.

The National Park Service has assembled information on the early history of Santa Clara County and a List of Sites on the National Register of Historic Places in Santa Clara County.
