Storytime, Programs, & Events Storytime, Programs, & Events

Storytime is a joyous occasion for the whole family. Each 30 minute program consists of flannel board storytelling, book reading, songs & music, fingerplay rhymes, and a short film. Occasionally, puppet shows, performers and other special activities are featured.

Your young child will be introduced to group participation, new books and stories, and the magic of storytelling. Older children will enjoy hearing old and new favorite stories, and participating in movement and music activities. You will learn songs and rhymes to repeat to your children at home.

During the school year, Toddler, Preschool, and Family storytimes are a weekly event. These storytimes are geared toward specific age groups and younger or older siblings are allowed to attend as long as there is a child of the appropriate age:

Toddler Storytime (ages 2-3)
Preschool Storytime (ages 3-5)
Family Storytime (all ages)

For children under 24 months, we offer Baby Lapsit and Young Ones programs:

Baby Lapsit (ages 0-12 months)
Learn songs, fingerplays, and stories that infants will sit up and listen to that you can do from home. Bring a blanket for you and your baby to sit on. Please do not bring older siblings to this program. Space is limited. Please arrive early to find adequate parking. Doors will close when room is at capacity.

Young 1s (ages 12-24 months only)

Storytime, Programs, & Events

Throughout the year we offer performances by professional performers, parent education presentations, reading celebration parties, and other events. Magicians, storytellers, singers, and puppeteers appear monthly during the school year, and more often during the summer, as part of our Family Program series.

Our Summer Reading Program runs from June through August and encourages children to read for fun over the summer. It includes a variety of programs for the whole family such as storytimes, musical concerts as well as constructive learning activities for children. Children of all ages, teenagers, and family members are all invited to participate. All participants must have a valid Santa Clara City Library Card.
