The ecology of San Francisco Bay is the theme of this intimate nature museum, including a small zoo of Bay Area creatures (i.e. river otters, a porcupine, banana slugs), native plant landscaping and temporary exhibitions geared to primary age children. A manageable destination for toddlers.

A combination zoo and amusement park geared for children ages 2-10.
  Oakland Zoo, Oakland
Originally established in 1922, the Oakland Zoo moved to Knowland Park in 1936, and features more than 300 native and exotic animals.
  San Francisco Zoo
Conveniently located off 19th Avenue, the San Francisco Zoo is home to over 250 mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians, etc. A great destination for young & old, open 365 days a year!
