Silicon Valley Reads: Monday Movies in March – Combat Diary
Silicon Valley Reads 2013 focuses on the “invisible wounds of war.” The Monday Movies in March series features short documentary films on veterans.
Combat Diary: The Marines of Lima Company, an Emmy-nominated film (90 minutes) made by A&E Television in 2005, profiles the marine company from Columbus, Ohio, that suffered the highest casualty rate in the Iraq War. It includes photographs and footage shot by the soldiers themselves, and focuses on both those who are in combat and their families back home. The documentary concludes that an entire community was brought together in pride and grief; the film “offers a powerful statement to the strength and courage of ordinary people living and fighting under the extraordinary circumstance of war.”
