Robin Chapman, a former KRON-TV reporter, grew up in a house built by her father on a plot of land once part of an extensive apricot orchard in Los Altos.  The family retained the remaining apricot trees and enjoyed harvesting the sweet fruit that grew on their property each year.  With loving memories of her childhood and the days when Santa Clara Valley was still known as "The Valley of Heart's Delight," Robin tells the story of the Santa Clara Valley Apricot Industry in its waning days.  Her book, California Apricots: The Lost Orchards of Silicon Valley, is illustrated with colorized postcards from her own collection and fascinating images from the History San Jose Archives.  The last chapter, "Cooking with Cots," shares delicious apricot recipes, many from the cookbooks of Santa Clara Valley orchard families.  Find out why Robin wrote this beautifully illustrated and engrossing book.  Copies of her book will be for sale after the talk.
