Immigrant Ships Transcribers Guild
On the internet since 1998, the ISTG website is the work of hundreds of volunteers who have transcribed over 12,000 passenger manifests. Besides passenger records, the website also has maritime newspaper articles and ethnic information.

Newspaper Archives Online List on Wikipedia provides a list with weblinks arranged by Country and for the United States a State by State sublist of both free and pay wall blocked online newspaper archives. For California, UC Riverside is host to the California Digitial Newspaper Collection which contains over 400,000 pages of significant historical California newspapers published from 1846-1922, including California's first daily California newspaper, the Daily Alta California.

Santa Clara County Archives
In October 2006, the County of Santa Clara established a public archive for its historical records. Volunteers have created online indexes on this website to some of the records retained by this archive including the County Coroner Inquests Collection; County Photographer's Collection; County Probate Cases Collection; County Naturalization Indexes; County Survey Collection; and County Wills Collection.
