(CIN) is a database found on the library's OPAC and Web pages that provides
a searchable directory of community information on local clubs, tourist attractions,
historical resources, non-profit organizations, schools and more.
Q. Why do you call it CIN?
A. CIN is an acronym for City Information
Network. It is shorter than saying Santa Clara City Information Network database.
Q. How long has CIN been around?
A. The Library started entering
organizations into the database in 1997.
Q. What is included in CIN?
A. Organizations that are local
or that serve people who live and/or work in Santa Clara.
Q. What is not included in CIN?
A. Individual professionals such
as lawyers, doctors, contractors, etc. Very few for-profit businesses unless
they are related to the library and education field (e.g., bookstores, newspapers,
private schools) or the sports, recreation, and tourist trade (e.g., sports
teams, amusement parks, shopping malls).
