Gary
Price resides in Utah. He earned a degree in Fine Arts from the
University of Utah and has traveled extensively, believing in “always
remaining a student.” His works are included in public and
private collections throughout the world including the Culver Military
Academy, the Dallas Arboretum, Hong Kong City Library, American
Schools-Surry, England, and the Springville Museum of Art. In 1991,
Gary was elected a member of the National Sculpture Society. Gary’s
sculptures are intended to uplift the viewer. His work often celebrates
the fun and joys of childhood.
Three of Gary’s bronze sculptures are located in the interior
boulevard on the first floor. The other is located outside the park-side
entrance. “Circle of Peace” depicts children from all
walks of life, whose clasped hands represent the interaction that
engenders a humanity full of compassion and respect. “Bookworm
I” and “Bookworm 2” celebrate the thirst for knowledge,
while “Puffed Up Prince” is a whimsical sculpture that
sits, appropriately, in the Fairy Tales section of the Children’s
collection.
“I want to be recognized as a sculptor who, regardless
of the subject or object, can create a piece that is uplifting and
has lasting merit. Can we be open-minded? Can we support and encourage
one another? Can we create something of beauty or make a statement
that needs to be made? These are things that interest me. Sculpture
is a process of learning to listen, trying to see, and doing one’s
best to feel.”
